Terms & Conditions

1. Security Deposit

A £1000 security deposit is required in addition to your booking fee. This must be paid in full before the commencement of the hire period. The deposit is fully refundable upon the safe return of the vehicle, provided that:

• The vehicle is returned in the same condition as it was hired (clean, undamaged, and with a full fuel tank).
• No terms and conditions have been breached.
• There are no outstanding charges (e.g., fines, tolls, or late returns).
• Refunds will be processed within 7 working days of the vehicle's return.

2. Driver Criteria

All drivers must be aged 30 years or over.

Drivers must have held a full UK Driving Licence for a minimum of 2 years.

No driver may have more than 6 penalty points on their licence.

Serious convictions (e.g., drink driving, dangerous driving) may result in insurance refusal.

A copy of the driving licence and proof of address (dated within 3 months) must be provided prior to collection to complete insurance checks.

Only drivers named and approved by Lees Motorhome Hire are permitted to drive the vehicle.

3. Insurance & Breakdown Cover

Fully comprehensive insurance and UK breakdown cover are included in the hire cost. Insurance covers damage to the vehicle and third-party liabilities. The hirer is liable for the insurance excess, which is equal to the value of the security deposit. In the event of a breakdown or accident, contact us immediately for assistance. Instructions and emergency contacts will be provided in the hire pack.

4. Pets

We regret that pets are not permitted in the campervan under any circumstances. Any evidence of pets will result in a deep cleaning charge and may affect your deposit.

5. Cancellation Policy – By the Hirer

If you need to cancel your booking, the following charges will apply:

• More than 6 weeks before rental: £100 fee (deducted from the deposit).
• Between 6 and 4 weeks before rental: £300 fee (deducted from the deposit).
• Less than 4 weeks before rental or in the case of no-show: No refund of the deposit or balance.

We recommend that all customers obtain appropriate travel insurance to cover cancellations or unexpected events.

6. Cancellation Policy–By Lees Motorhome Hire

In the unlikely event that we must cancel your booking due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., vehicle damage, mechanical failure), we will:

• Notify you at the earliest possible time, and Offer either a full refund or the opportunity to reschedule your hire to an alternative date.

7. COVID Secure Policy

If UK Government restrictions change in a way that legally prevents travel or the use of self-contained motorhomes, your booking will be eligible for a full refund or reschedule.

8. International Travel

• International travel may be permitted by prior arrangement.
• Additional insurance and breakdown cover charges will apply.
• European travel documentation (e.g., VE103 certificate, green card) will be required and arranged through us.

9. Vehicle Collection & Return Times

Collection Time: 3:00 PM

Return Time: 12:00 PM (midday)

We aim to be as flexible as possible with these times and may offer early collection or late return by prior arrangement.

Late returns may incur a charge if they impact subsequent hires.

10. Vehicle Condiion & Fuel

• The vehicle will be provided clean and with a full tank of fuel.
• It must be returned in the same condition.
• A valeting or refuelling fee may be charged if the vehicle is returned dirty or with less than a full tank.

11. Parking & Location

• Lees Motorhome Hire is located in Colchester, Essex in England.
• We offer free parking for your vehicle during the hire period.
• Please note that vehicles are left at the owner's risk.

12. Prohibited Uses

The hirer agrees not to:

• Smoke inside the vehicle.
• Allow pets in the vehicle.
• Use the vehicle for any illegal purpose or on dilapidated roads.
• Sub-hire or lend the vehicle to anyone not named on the hire agreement.
• Attend music festivals or sporting events without prior written permission.

13. Self Drive Hire Indemnity

Insurance cover is extended to include the Swift Voyager 485 while on hire, subject to the following conditions:

• 1. Driver Checks Before Hire

Prior to the start of any hire, Lees Motorhome Hire will:

• Inspect the driving licence of the hirer and any additional drivers.
• Ensure all drivers.
• Are between 30 and 75 years of age.
• Have held a full UK or EU driving licence for at least 2 years.
• Have not had their licence suspended in the past 3 years.
• Have not been involved in more than one fault claim in the last 3 years.
• Have no more than two convictions, with a maximum of 3 points per conviction.
• Do not have any BA, DD, or UT convictions.
• 2. Rental Agreement

The vehicle will only be hired out to individuals who have completed and signed a valid rental agreement or hirer/driver proposal form for each hire period.

• 3. Identity Verification

Before releasing the vehicle, Lees Motorhome Hire will carry out full identity checks. This includes copies of all drivers licences, two utility bills dated within the last three months, and taking the security deposit via a traceable payment method (e.g., debit or credit card).

• 4. Excess in Theft by Hirer Claims

In the event of a theft by hirer, an excess equal to 25% of the motorhome's value will apply.

• 5. Claims Related to Cooking or Heating Appliances

For any claims resulting from the use of onboard cooking or heating appliances, a co-insurance excess of 25% will apply, with a minimum excess of £500.

• 6. Prohibited Uses

The motorhome may not be used to transport goods of an explosive, dangerous, or hazardous nature, nor for the carriage of goods or passengers for hire, reward, or any form of commercial profit.
